Speak UpSpreading the abstinence-until-marriage message will require your dedication and we hope that lessons learned in life and training will fuel your passion. Remember that your lifestyle will always be the loudest and most powerful message! Here are a few places you can share the Positive Choice message:One-on-One with Friends or Classmates Teens most often look to friends for advice when it comes to sex, drugs and alcohol. We hope that after training you can pass your knowledge on to your friends and classmates, helping the abstinence-until-marriage message spread even farther and more rapidly. It just takes one person! At your Church After returning from training, seek permission from your church leadership to share about your training experience at a midweek or Sunday worship service. Focus on sharing personal stories about relationships built, mentee/mentoring, the Positive Choice message, etc. If you need the Positive Choice brochures, we would be happy to provide them. Please call or email us, but provide us with enough time (3-5 days) to send you the brochures. Youth and Campus Ministries Your youth and campus ministries are the target audience for the Positive Choice message. Seek permission to share the abstinence-until-marriage message at your youth and campus devotionals. Depending on how much time you have been given, select the appropriate modules to present. In addition to your manual and DVD, resources will be posted on the Positive Choice website to help you with your presentations. Community Groups and Schools You may also target middle and high schools, after-school programs, Saturday academies, Boys and Girls Club, Urban League Centers and other community youth organizations for the Positive Choice message. We encourage Peer Educators to research the health education curriculum for your state school district. Is the sexual health portion based on abstinence, abstinence until marriage, safe sex or comprehensive sex? Contact the school you attend or an organization you are familiar with for volunteer opportunities to share about abstinence-until-marriage. At schools, most health educators would welcome the help. You can research organizations in your state that focuses on abstinence-until-marriage education on www.google.com (search for “abstinence until marriage”; type your city or state”). Other Volunteer Opportunities Volunteer at your local Crisis Pregnancy Center. Locate a crisis pregnancy center near you by calling 1-800-395-HELP or go to the website: http://www.pregnancycenters.org. If you are a minor, please consult with your parent or guardian before volunteering. |
