Peer Educators

Peer Educators will be drawn from partnering organizations with teenagers, young adults and college students who are passionate about making a difference with their peers and in the community. Single people, parents and young married couples with a strong passion and talent for teaching and serving teenagers in the community are all strong candidates as Positive Choice Peer Educators.  

Positive Choice uses two phases to achieve saturation of the abstinence-until-marriage message in churches, communities and schools.  

Phase One – Recruitment and Training

During the first phase of the Program, the partner organization will recruit Peer Educators, and HOPE worldwide will train the Peer Educators to ensure thorough and accurate teaching of the abstinence-until-marriage curriculum.  After training, Peer Educators will be given a written and/or oral examination to measure their understanding of the curriculum content. Successful presentation and a passing grade on this examination will certify them as Positive Choice Peer Educators.  During the first phase of the program implementation at a new site, HOPE worldwide will provide ongoing training and mentoring of Peer Educators.  

Phase Two – Implementation

After training, Peer Educators become the ambassadors for the abstinence-until-marriage message. With the knowledge gained, they can transform themselves and their peers into informed adolescents.  During the second phase of the Positive Choice program, the partner organization will take ownership of the program by seeking first to implement the program in its youth group and secondly, to replicate the program in local youth community organizations and schools.  Training will be provided in phase one on how to implement the program in the community and schools.  HOPE worldwide will be available to provide ongoing technical support and mentorship.  A variety of conferences, trainings and other events will be provided to help educate and encourage Peer Educators about the importance of choosing and communicating abstinence as the healthiest lifestyle.
